Commodore Syed Maksumul Hakim,(ND), BSP, ndc, ncc, psc, BN
Commodore Syed Maksumul Hakim,(ND), ndc, ncc, psc, BN received his basic training from Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, UK. He was then commissioned in Bangladesh Navy in the Executive Branch on 15 April 1985. As a Navigation and Direction Specialist officer he completed the specialization course from India with distinction. He is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur also the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India. Commodore Hakim completed Naval Command Course from the US Naval War College, Rhode Island in 2009 and the National Defence Course from NDC, Mirpur in 2013.He also participated in various courses in APCSS, Hawaii, USA and Swedish International Command in Sweden. He obtained Masters on Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh and Master on Security and Strategic Studies from Madras University, India and secured first class on both occasions
During his long carrier Commodore Hakim had a good mix of command, staff and training appointments at various levels and areas of the Navy.
Commodore Hakim had the distinguished command services of the Bangladesh Navy ships as he command Guide Missile Frigate, Offshore Patrol Vessels. Patrol Craft etc. As the Commanding Officer of the missile Frigate BNS OSMAN, he was deployed in the UN peace keeping mission in UNIFILL Maritime Task Force from June 2011 to June 2012 for a year in the Lebanon. He also carried out the duties of the Contingent Commander of the BN Contingent-2 (BANCON-2) comprising the Frigate and an Offshore Patrol Vessel in Lebanon. For the outstanding performance in this mission he was awarded the Certificates of Appreciations by the UNFIL Force Commander and also by the Maritime Task Force Commander. He was awarded the Peace Keeping Medal by UN and was also honoured by the Lebanese government by the award of Medal of Appreciation ‘Silver’ for his exceptional Contributions to the peace keeping there.
He served as the commandant of the prestigious Naval Academy and also the commanding officer of the naval base BNS HAJI MOHSIN, in Dhaka. He served as a staff officer and Director of Naval Plans at the Naval Headquarters. He performed as an instructor in Bangladesh Naval Academy, School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics and also in the faculty of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur as Directing Staff.
His last appointed was the Director of Naval Operations at NHQ Dhaka. Presently he is appointed as the NAVAL ADMINISTRATIVE AUTHORITY DHAKA (ADMIN DHAKA).
Commodore Hakim is married and blessed with two daughters.
