COMMODORE BASHIR UDDIN AHMED, (G), ndc, psc, BN
Commodore Bashir Uddin Ahmed was commissioned in the Executive Branch of Bangladesh Navy on 15 April 1985 with CNS Gold Medal for best in Academics. As a Midshipman he is a graduate of Britannia Royal Naval College, UK. After getting commission he also completed Executive Officers Basic Course from UK. Amongst other professional courses he qualified Basic Intelligence Course from SMI, Comilla Cantonment, Long Gunnery from India, Staff Course from DSCSC, Mirpur and second Staff Course from Naval Command College, China. He is a qualified Deputy President from ISSB. Commodore Bashir is a vibrant sailor served onboard all types of ships of Bangladesh Navy.
He commanded Missile Boats both at the early stage of his career as Commanding Officer and as Squadron Commander at later stage. He commanded number of Patrol Crafts and commanded an Offshore Patrol Vessel from UK to Bangladesh. In Coast Guard he was appointed as Zonal Commander of South Zone and West Zone. He also served as Commanding Officer of Force Riverine Unit in the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) and South Sudan (UNMISS). His last command was a Frigate prior being promoted to the present rank. As staff he served as Flag Lieutenant to Chief of Naval Staff, Training Commander of Bangladesh Naval Academy, Officer in Charge of Gunnery School and as Colonel GS of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and as Director of Naval Intelligence at NHQ. Presently he is appointed as Commodore SWADS (Special Warfare Diving and Salvage) Command. Commodore Bashir is married to Mrs Razina Ahmed and is blessed with a son and a daughter.
