Commodore Golam Sadeq, NGP, ncc, psc, BN
Cdre Golam Sadeq is an ex cadet of Rangpur Cadet College. He was commissioned in the Executive Branch in July 1989 from Malaysian Naval Academy. The Commodore started his career in Missile boat squadron, which was then considered ‘Biting Teeth’ of Bangladesh Navy Fleet. He then completed missile specialization diploma from Dalian Naval Academy, China.
Cdre Sadeq commanded various ships mentionably Missile Boats, Petrol Crafts, BNS SAGAR (Mine Sweeper), BNS GOMATI (OPV) and the ex-British frigate BNS ABU BAKR. He had the unique opportunity to command 3 Training Bases namely, BNS ISSA KHAN, BNS SHAHEED MOAZZAM and Bangladesh Naval Academy. In BNA he supervised the first ever three years precommission training and capacity building of the academy by completing the 'Bangabandhu Complex' project. He was also the Commanding Officer of Naval Aviation Flying Wing. The commodore is a gunnery specialist from Pakistan and is one of the pioneers in BN, who qualified in Principal Warfare Officers’ Advance Course from the UK. That expertise ultimately enabled him to raise the then newly established simulator based tactical trainer at School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics in the year 2000. In this school he served in two tenures and became a part of history in conducting the first warfare course MWTC of Bangladesh Navy in 2001.
The commodore is a graduate of Defense Service Command and Staff College at Mirpur, Pakistan Navy War College and US Navy War College. There he earned higher degrees on war and security studies. He has various articles published in the Navy Journal, Daily News paper column and won awards in international essay competition at the US Navy War College. As part of staff duties he had the opportunity to serve as the Flag Lt to the Chief of Naval Staff, Staff Officer Operation to Fleet Commander, Chief Staff Officer to COMCHIT and Deputy Director of Naval Plans at Navy Headquarters. He has served as military observer in Ivory Coast.
In recognition to his commendable service in the navy he was awarded with Peace Time Medal 'Nou Gourab Padak' (NGP) in 2014. He joined as the commodore SWADS Command on 01 Nov 2018.
Being a widely travelled person Commodore Golam Sadeq visited many countries including Malaysia, China, Pakistan, Italy, UK, Turkey, Philippines, USA, Ivory Coast and so on.
He is happily married to Begum Nusrat Sadeq and blessed with a son and a daughter. He enjoys occasional golf and is a passionate reader.
