Commodore Shah Aslam Parvez, (TAS), nswc, afwc, psc, BN was born on 22 August 1962 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Commodore Parvez joined Bangladesh Navy on 01 December 1981 and commissioned on 01 December 1984. He did his basic midshipmen training from Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth (UK). Thereafter, he did his Torpedo Anti-Submarine (TAS) specialization course from PNS BAHADUR, Pakistan. He is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College, Dhaka. Commodore Parvez also did his Armed Forces War Course (afwc) from National Defence College, Dhaka and completed National Security and War Course (nswc) from National Defence University, Islamabad, Pakistan. He completed his MSc from NDU, Pakistan and Executive MBA from American International University of Bangladesh.
Commodore Parvez, commanded almost all type of ships and craft of Bangladesh Navy. He was the Captain of BN frigate BNS ABU BAKAR. He also commanded Torpedo Boat Squadron and Mine Sweeper Squadron as Squadron Commander. He also worked as Instructor in School of Maritime Warfare and Tactics (SMWT) and Officer-in-Charge of Torpedo and Anti-Submarine School (TAS School). He was Staff Officer (Training) at Naval Headquarters, GSO-III Foreign Liaison Bureau in DGFI. Commodore Shah Aslam Parvez served as a Directing Staff, Armed Forces War Course and also worked as Director Operations Bangladesh Coast Guard. He was the Commandant of Bangladesh Naval Academy. Besides, he has performed the duties of Commodore Naval Aviation, Naval Administrative Authority, Dhaka for a quite long time. He has served as Defence Adviser, Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka from April 2014 to September 2017.
Commodore Shah Aslam Parvez is happily married to Kaniz Fatema Parvez (Kaniz) and the couple is blessed with one son and one daughter.
