Military Awards
Considering the heroic and gallantry acts Bangladesh Navy grants military awards. The military awards consist of the operational awards and non-operational awards. In addition, commemorative awards, for special occasions may be instituted as and when necessary.
Operational Awards
- Bir Sreshtho. This award shall be conferrable upon personnel of any rank who have performed acts of the greatest heroism of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger and have shown bravery of the highest order or devotion to the country in the presence of the enemy on land, at sea, or in the air
- Bir Uttom. This award shall be conferrable upon personnel of any rank for acts of valour, courage, or devotion to duty performed on land, at sea, or in the air in the face of the enemy.
- Bir Bikram. This award shall be conferrable upon personnel of any rank for gallant and distinguished service in combat.
- Bir Protik. This award shall be conferrable upon personnel of any rank for gallantry and distinguished service performed in combat.
Liberation Commemorative Awards
- Rono Taroka (Campaign Star). It is conferrable on all ranks of Bangladesh Forces (Mukti Bahini), both regulars (Niyomito Bahini) and citizen soldiers (Gono Bahini), who actively fought with the Forces or sectors and were borne on the strength of the Bangladesh Forces for a minimum period of 21 days, prior to the 16th December 1971.
- Samar Padak (War Medal). It is conferrable on all ranks of Bangladesh Forces (Mukti Bahini), both regulars (Niyomito Bahini) and citizen soldiers (Gono Bahini), who were on the strength of the Forces as well as those who fought inside Bangladesh upto the 16th December 1971.
- Mukti Taroka (Liberation Star). It is conferrable on all ranks of Bangladesh Forces who were in service with erstwhile Pakistan Armed Forces in both the wings of erstwhile Pakistan or anywhere outside Pakistan and defected or revolted against Pakistan and formed the nucleus of Bangladesh Forces up to 17th April, 1971 (the day the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was formed) and fought back with the occupation forces in Bangladesh in order to offer the initial resistance.
- Joy Padak (Victory Medal). It is conferrable on all ranks of Bangladesh Forces (Mukti Bahini), both regulars (Niyomito Bahini) and citizen soldiers (Gono Bahini), who were on the strength of the Bangladesh Forces on the 16th December, 1971 (Victory Day).
- Sangbidhan Padak (Constitution Medal). It is conferrable on all ranks of Bangladesh Forces who were in the strength of the Bangladesh Forces when the Government promulgated the Constitution on the 16th December, 1972.
Nirapattya Padak. It is conferrable for gallantry on the members of defence services of Bangladesh who take part in minor operations or campaigns within the specified dates and areas of operation.
Jesthata Padak
- JP-1 conferrable on completion of 10 yrs unblemished service career.
- JP-2 conferrable on completion of 20 yrs unblemished service career
- JP-3 conferrable on completion of 27 yrs unblemished service career
Uttaran Padak. It is awarded to all military members of Bangladesh Armed Forces, who participated in the said operation for a minimum period of 21 days. The participation may be in terms of the duty in the operation area, administration, supervision, coordination, supply and service. This will also include the personnel of area headquarters, service headquarters who will be involved in the said participation.
Election Padak 1991. It is awarded to all military members of Bangladesh Armed Forces, who were in the service during the parliamentary election 1991.
Election Padak 1996. It is awarded to all military members of Bangladesh Armed Forces, who were involved in the the parliamentary election 1996.
Election Padak 2001. It is awarded to all military members of Bangladesh Armed Forces, who were involved in the the parliamentary election 2001
Silver Jubilee Medal. It is awarded to all military members of Bangladesh Armed Forces, who were in the active list on 26 March 1996.
Golden Jubilee Medal. On 16 December 1971, the Pakistan Army surrendered to the joint forces of India and Bangladesh. This day is celebrated as Victory Day in Bangladesh, which completes 50 years on 16 December 2021. Massive initiatives were taken in front of this day.
Blood Donor Medal. It is awarded to all persons of Bangladesh Navy, who have donated blood three times.
CNS Commendation Padak. It is awarded to all members of Bangladesh Navy, who have received the CNS commendation letter.
Peace Time Medal
Navy Medal (Nau Bahini Padak - NBP). The Navy medal is the highest Bangladesh Naval peace time award given by the Government of Pepole’s Republic of Bangladesh. It is awarded to any member of BN for exemplary devotion/ self-sacrifice/ sincerity/ obedience/ bravery or perform significant dutifulness for the country or displays courgeous activity in special risky sea operation (Including Naval Aviation, Submarine and SWADS Operation).
Extraordinary Service Medal (Oshamanno Sheba Padak- OSP). This medal is awarded to any member of BN who displays admiring contribution and daring act of bravery to counter immediate situation at sea / Naval Operations (Including Naval Aviation, Submarine and SWADS Operation) or exceptional/sincerity efficient management/ humanitarian assistance for the significant devolopment of navy or country.
Distinguuished Service Medal (Bishisto Sheba Padak- BSP). This medal is awarded to any member of BN who have performed an act of significant contribution/ controlling critical situation in navy or the country or who displayed a praiseworthy initiative for the development of nation including BN.
Navy Glorious Service Medal (Nau Gaurab Padak - NGP). This medal is awarded to any member of BN who have completed mentionable sea service (Including Naval Aviation, Submarine and SWADS operation) and displayed exemplary conduct/ efficiency/ boldness in establishing himself as a extra ordinary person to inspire others.
Navy Medal of Excellence (Nau Utkorsho Padak - NUP). This medal is awarded to any member of BN who have performed an act of significant contribution in risky situation/ praiseworthy initiative in original research/ successful completion of any project work in home and abroad or commendable success in bringing ship from abroard which inspire others.
Navy Efficiency Medal (Nau Parodorshita Padak - NPP). This medal is awarded to any member of BN who have achieved special success in individual arena/ significant inictiative in publising successful research work on professional subject, who have also achieved success in home and foreign traning/ naval exercise, combined exercise or contribution in initial planning and execution of international sea exercise which encourage others.
