REAR ADMIRAL ABDULLAH-AL-MAKSUS, NUP, ndc, psc
 

Rear Admiral Abdullah-Al-Maksus graduated from Bangladesh Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science and Commissioned in Executive Branch in 1992. He completed the International Maritime Officer Course in USA and Anti-Submarine Warfare Specialization Course in India. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and did his second staff course from Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College. He completed National Defence Course from Mirpur. He holds two Masters in his credit, first one in Defence Studies and the later in Security and Strategic Studies. He also did Post Graduate Diploma on Strategic Studies from the University of Malaya.

He served in six different squadrons and commanded various types of ships including a frigate. Besides, he commanded the largest Naval base of BN, BNS ISSA KHAN. His staff appointments include ADC to DG Bangladesh Coast Guard, two tenures as Staff Officers Operations at area level and grade two staff officer at Armed Forces Division and as the Director of Personnel Services and Naval Secretary at Naval Headquarters. The officer has also served as the Managing Director of Dockyard & Engineering Works Ltd, Narayanganj.

His instructional assignments include Instructor of Torpedo Anti-Submarine School, Directing Staff at the Junior Staff College and Directing Staff and Senior Instructor at the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur.

His overseas deployment includes two tenures under the auspices of UN. In 2008/2009, he was deployed as a Military Liaison Officer in UN-AU Hybrid Operations in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID). From 2012 to 2016, he served as Planning Officer in the Military Planning Services at UNHQ, New York. During his stay at UNHQ, he was the focal point of UN maritime deployment and under his supervision, the first ever UN Military Maritime Task Force Manual was published and promulgated.

For his meritorious service in the fleet and at UNHQ, he received both Area Commander’s and Chief of Naval Staff’s commendations and the prestigious UNHQ medal. The officer has been awarded Nou Utkarshota Padak (NUP) in the year 2019 for his overall contribution in the service.

Currently, Rear Admiral Maksus is appointed as the Commander Dhaka Naval Area.

Rear Admiral Maksus is happily married and blessed with two sons.
