Rear Admiral A K M Jakir Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc

 

Rear Admiral A K M Jakir Hossain, ndc afwc, psc joined Bangladesh Navy on 01 July 1989 and was commissioned on 01 January 1992. He completed Cadet, Midshipman and Sub Lieutenant Course in Royal Malaysian Navy.

Rear Admiral Jakir served onboard various naval ships as Navigating Officer, Gunnery Officer and Executive Officer. He commanded five ships which includes Patrol Craft, Large Patrol Craft, Offshore Patrol Vessel, Corvette and Frigate. He performed the duties as Instructor Bangladesh Naval Academy, Platoon commander and Naval Directing staff at Bangladesh Military Academy, Directing Staff at Defence Services Command & Staff College and Directing Staff of Armed Forces War Course. Among staff duties he was Staff Officer at Training Directorate, Deputy Director Naval Plans at Naval Headquarters, Colonel Staff at Armed Forces Division, Chief Staff Officer at Fleet Headquarters and Western Fleet, Colonel GS at NDC and Director Doctrine Wing at Navy Training and Doctrine Command. He has commanded BNS TITUMIR. He also acted as Senior Directing Staff in National Defence College and Commanded Fleet as COMFLOT WEST. At present, he is serving as the Commander Khulna Naval Area.

Rear Admiral Jakir attended a number of courses both at home and abroad. He is Navigation specialist. He did staff course in Defence Service Command and Staff College, Dhaka, Armed Forces War Course and National Defence Course at National Defence College, Dhaka. He also underwent staff course in Naval War Academy, Turkey.

Rear Admiral Jakir did UN Mission as Military Observer in Ivory Coast and served onboard Bangladesh Navy ship as part of Maritime Task Force (MTF) in UNIFIL Lebanon.

He is happily married with Irin Jahan Chowdhury and father of a son and a daughter pursuing education.
