CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF

ADMIRAL M NAZMUL HASSAN, OSP, NPP, ndc, ncc, psc

Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, OSP, NPP, ndc, ncc, psc assumed the command of Bangladesh Navy as the 17th Chief of Naval Staff on 24th July 2023. Born on 2nd February 1967, the Admiral is a second-generation Military officer. Throughout his four-decade-long and illustrious career, he has demonstrated exemplary military acumen and leadership skills. He has commanded all types of naval ships, establishment and held appointments at higher headquarters with utmost dedication and success. Admiral Nazmul has received extensive professional training in military strategies, operations, command and leadership from both at home and abroad. Some of his major professional courses include the "Naval Command Course" and “Naval Staff Course” at Naval War College, USA. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College and an alumnus of National Defence College, Mirpur. The officer attained his specialization in Navigation from India. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree from Chattogram University and Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh. The Admiral, being a passionate seafarer, proved himself worthy of being entrusted with the command responsibilities from the very early stage of his career in the Navy. He held the most coveted operational command of Bangladesh Navy Fleet as COMBAN. During his early career, he has successfully commanded a number of ships including Training Frigate BNS UMAR FAROOQ. His other operational command experiences include Commodore Naval Aviation and Commander of Special Forces (SWADS). As a senior staff officer, he served as Director Naval Operations and Director Naval Intelligence at the Naval Headquarters. He was also appointed as Director General, Civil-Military Relations at the Armed Forces Division. Before taking over the helm of the Navy, he was appointed as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff Personnel and Operations respectively. As the Commander Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT), he commanded the largest naval area. During his tenure as COMCHIT, he performed a pivotal role in the International Fleet Review (IFR) 2022 and organized the same. Previously he was also appointed as the Commandant, Bangladesh Naval Academy. In the international arena, Admiral Nazmul has extensively represented Bangladesh Navy in overseas engagements, including several international seminars and naval exercises. He is a proud "Blue Flag" bearer as a member of the UN in former Yugoslavia. The admiral is a proven diplomat too. He served as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Republic of Maldives. As the High Commissioner, he made significant contributions towards the development of bilateral ties between Bangladesh and the Maldives. The Admiral was awarded the ‘Extraordinary Service Medal’ (OSP) for his outstanding professional excellence. He was also adorned with the ‘Navy Efficiency Medal’ (NPP) – for his extra-ordinary academic performance and meritorious contribution to the service. Admiral Nazmul is married to Nadia Sultana, who is serving as President, Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association and Chief Patron BN Ladies Club. They are blessed with a son and a daughter.  Admiral Nazmul is a vivid reader and a keen golfer.

ঢাকা, ০২ নভেম্বর ২০২৪ঃ আজ শনিবার (০২-১১-২০২৪) ডকইয়ার্ড এন্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কস্ লিমিটেড (ডিইডব্লিউ) নারায়ণগঞ্জ এর বোর্ড অব ডিরেক্টরদের ৫৫তম সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। সভায় প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ডিইডব্লিউ এর চেয়ারম্যান মাননীয় নৌবাহিনী প্রধান এডমিরাল এম নাজমুল হাসান। এছাড়াও উক্ত সভায় বিওডির সভাপতি সহকারী নৌবাহিনী প্রধান (ম্যাটেরিয়াল) রিয়ার এডমিরাল খন্দকার আক্তার হোসেন এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। সভায় প্রতিষ্ঠানটির পঞ্চবার্ষিক পরিকল্পনা (২০২৪-২০২৮) গৃহিত হয়েছে। ইয়ার্ডের আগামী ০৫ বছরের উন্নয়ন পরিকল্পনায় গৃহিত পদক্ষেপগুলো হচ্ছে- অপারেশনাল সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি, মেরামত ও রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ, অবকাঠামোগত উন্নয়ন, মানবসম্পদ উন্নয়ন, অত্যাধুনিক শিপইয়ার্ডে রূপান্তর, ব্যবসা সম্প্রসারণ সংক্রান্ত পরিকল্পনা, গ্রীণ শিপইয়ার্ড বিনির্মাণ, ব্যয় হ্রাসের পরিকল্পনা, টেকনোলজি ট্রান্সফারের পরিকল্পনা এবং বাজেট পর্যালোচনা ও পরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়ন। ডকইয়ার্ড এন্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কস্ লিমিটেড বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে প্রাচীন জাহাজ নির্মাণ কোম্পানি। এটি ১৯২২ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় এবং স্বাধীনতার পর ১৯৮৯ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠানটির আধুনিকায়ন করা হয়। কিন্তু নানাবিধ কারণে সরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানটির উন্নয়ন বাধাপ্রাপ্ত হয়। ফলে ২০০২ সালে এটি বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। পরবর্তীতে ২০০৬ সালে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীকে ডকইয়ার্ডটি পরিচালনার দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়। বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর দক্ষ নেতৃত্বে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি ধীরে ধীরে অলাভজনক অবস্থা থেকে বর্তমানে দেশের একটি অন্যতম লাভজনক প্রতিষ্ঠানে পরিণত হয়েছে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটিকে আরও আধুনিক ও যুগোপযোগী করার লক্ষ্যে মাননীয় নৌবাহিনী প্রধানের দিক নির্দেশনায় ৫৫তম বিওডি সভায় ডকইয়ার্ড এন্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কস্ লিমিটেড এর পঞ্চবার্ষিক পরিকল্পনা প্রনয়ণ করা হয়েছে। যা বাস্তবায়নের মধ্যমে ডকইয়ার্ড এন্ড ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ওয়ার্কস্ লিমিটেড একটি ডিজিটাল ও অটোমেশন সুবিধা সম্পন্ন অত্যাধুনিক ও গ্রীন শিপইয়ার্ডে রূপান্তর হবে। এর ফলে দেশীয় প্রযুক্তি এবং জনশক্তি ব্যবহারের মধ্যমে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের জাহাজ নির্মাণ শিল্পে বাংলাদেশ আরও এক ধাপ এগিয়ে যাবে বলে মনে করছেন বিশেষজ্ঞরা।

Drug dealers along with weapons were arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Navy

ঢাকা, ০৫ নভেম্বর ২০২৪ঃ গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে আজ মঙ্গলবার (০৫-১১-২০২৪) ভোলা জেলার মাদক ও অস্ত্র উদ্ধারে যৌথ অভিযান পরিচালনা করে নৌবাহিনী। অভিযানে ভোলা জেলার চিহ্নিত অস্ত্র ও মাদক ব্যবসায়ী হাকিম মাহমুদকে অনুসরণ করে তাকে ভোলা সংলগ্ন বরিশাল জেলার মেহেন্দিগঞ্জ উপজেলাধীন আলিমাবাদ ইউনিয়ন সড়ক থেকে আটক করা হয়। পরবর্তীতে আটকৃত ব্যক্তির তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে বিভিন্ন জায়গা হতে গাজা, দেশীয় বন্দুক (পাইপ গান), ককটেল, চাইনিজ কুড়াল, দেশীয় অস্ত্র ও ০৩ টি মোবাইল সেট জব্দ করা হয়। তিনি দীর্ঘদিন যাবৎ মাদক ও চোরাচালানের সাথে জড়িত। যৌথ অভিযানে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর সাথে পুলিশ সদস্যরাও অংশগ্রহণ করে। পরবর্তীতে আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের জন্য জব্দকৃত মালামালসহ আটককৃত ব্যক্তিকে মেহেন্দিগঞ্জ থানায় হস্তান্তর করা হয়। উল্লেখ্য, সরকারের নির্দেশনা বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে ইন এইড টু সিভিল পাওয়ার এর আওতায় বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর নিয়মিত টহল ও অভিযান চলমান থাকবে।

বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী পরিবার কল্যাণ সংঘের উদ্যোগে ফেনীতে  বন্যা ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের মাঝে নবনির্মিত বাড়ি হস্তান্তর ঢাকা, ২২ ফেব্রæয়ারি ২০২৫ঃফেনী জেলার সদর ও ফুলগাজী উপজেলায় বন্যার্তদের পুনবার্সনে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী পরিবার কল্যাণ সংঘের প্রেসিডেন্ট নাদিয়া সুলতানা’র উদ্যোগে এবং নৌবাহিনী প্রধান এডমিরাল এম নাজমুল হাসান এর প্রত্যক্ষ দিক নির্দেশনায় নবনির্মিত ৮৫টি বাড়ি বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত অসহায় পরিবারের মাঝে হস্তান্তর করা হয়। আজ শনিবার (২২-০২২০২৫) কমান্ডার চট্টগ্রাম নৌ অঞ্চল রিয়ার এডমিরাল মীর এরশাদ আলী নবনির্মিত এসকল বাড়ি আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে হস্তান্তর  করেন। এ সময় অন্যান্যদের মাঝে ফেনীর জেলা প্রশাসক, পুলিশ সুপারসহ স্থানীয় প্রশাসন ও নৌবাহিনীর ঊর্ধতন কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ এবং গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।   প্রবল বর্ষণ ও উজান থেকে নেমে আসা পানি প্রবেশের কারণে গত ২১ আগস্ট ২০২৪ দেশের পূর্বাঞ্চলের বৃহত্তর ফেনীসহ কয়েকটি জেলার বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকা প্লাবিত হয়। স্মরণকালের ভয়াবহ ও আকষ্মিক এই প্লাবনে  বাড়ি-ঘর, স্কুল, কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা, মসজিদ, মন্দিরসহ সম্পূর্ণ এলাকা তলিয়ে যায়। এতে বিপুল সংখ্যক মানুষ আশ্রয়হীন হয়ে পড়ে। এই মহা দুর্যোগকালে উদ্ধার ও ত্রাণ কার্যক্রমের আওতায় নৌবাহিনী উদ্ধারকারী দল পানিবন্দি মানুষদের উদ্ধার করে নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ে পৌঁছানোর পাশাপাশি ত্রাণসামগ্রী, বিশুদ্ধ খাবার পানি, আশ্রয় কেন্দ্রসহ বিভিন্ন স্থানে পানিবন্দি মানুষের মাঝে রান্না করা খাবার, বস্ত্র সামগ্রী ও প্রয়োজনীয় উপকরণ বিতরণ করে। বন্যা দুর্গত এলাকায় ৩৫ শয্যা বিশিষ্ট ফিল্ড হসপিটাল স্থাপন করে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর বিশেষজ্ঞ চিকিৎসকদের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত মেডিক্যাল টিম বন্যার্তদের চিকিৎসা সেবা প্রদান করে।  বন্যা পরবর্তী সময়ে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী পরিবার কল্যাণ সংঘের উদ্যোগে এবং নৌবাহিনীর ব্যবস্থাপনায় ফেনী জেলার সদর ও ফুলগাজী উপজেলায় বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের পুনর্বাসনে বাড়ি নির্মাণ কার্যক্রম গ্রহণ করা হয়। বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠান, সংস্থা ও বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গও উক্ত কার্যক্রমে সম্পৃক্ত হয়। বন্যায় বাড়ি-ঘর হারিয়ে আশ্রয়হীন ও অসহায় মানুষদের নিরাপদ আবাসন ব্যবস্থা করে দিতে গত ০৯ অক্টোবর ২০২৪ এ প্রকল্পের কাজ শুরু হয়। বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর ব্যবস্থাপনায় অত্যন্ত দ্রæত সময়ের মধ্যে প্রকল্পের কাজ সম্পন্ন করা হয়। নবনির্মিত বাড়িগুলো বাংলাদেশের মুন্সিগঞ্জের মতো বন্যা প্রবণ এলাকায় খুবই উপযোগী হিসেবে দীর্ঘদিন যাবৎ ব্যবহৃত হয়ে আসছে। দেড় তলা বিশিষ্ট এ বাড়িগুলোতে বন্যাকালে পানিবন্দি মানুষ জন পরিবার পরিজন নিয়ে নিজ বাড়িতেই নিরাপদে অবস্থান করার সুবিধা রয়েছে। বন্যায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত মানুষ জন বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী এবং বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী পরিবার কল্যাণ সংঘের পক্ষ থেকে এ সকল বাড়ি পেয়ে অত্যন্ত আনন্দিত। উল্লেখ্য, ইতিপূর্বে নৌবাহিনী কর্তৃক ফেনী জেলার সদর ও ফুলগাজী উপজেলায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত স্কুল, কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা, মসজিদ, এতিমখানা ও মন্দিরসহ ৩৯টি প্রতিষ্ঠানে ব্যবহার্য বিভিন্ন উপকরণ সামগ্রী বিতরণ করা হয়। নৌবাহিনীর এ ধরনের জনহিতকর কার্যক্রম ভবিষ্যতেও চলমান থাকবে।

  • CHINGRI POLASH, ONE OF THE MOST INFAMOUS TERRORISTS IN KHULNA, WAS ARRESTED IN A JOINT OPERATION

    Based on secret information, a joint operation was conducted by the Bangladesh Army and Navy in the early hours of Sunday (29-12-2024) at 00:40 AM in the Gobarchaka area under Sonadanga Police Station in Khulna city to recover drugs and weapons. During the operation, one of Khulna's top terrorists, Mohammad Polash Talukdar, alias Chingri Polash, and his wife Parveen Sultana Titli were arrested.

    ঢাকা, ০৫ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ঃ বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর সার্বিক ব্যবস্থাপনায় আন্তঃবাহিনী ফুটবল প্রতিযোগিতা-২০২৪ এর সমাপনী ও পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠান আজ বৃহস্পতিবার (০৫-১২-২০২৪) ঢাকায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। সহকারী নৌবাহিনী প্রধান (পার্সোনেল) রিয়ার এডমিরাল মোহাম্মদ মুসা, ওএসপি, এনপিপি, আরসিডিএস, এএফডবিøউসি, পিএসসি, পিএইচডি প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত থেকে ফুটবল ফাইনাল ম্যাচ উপভোগ করেন এবং বিজয়ীদের মাঝে পুরস্কার বিতরণ করেন। অনুষ্ঠানে সেনাবাহিনী, নৌবাহিনী ও বিমান বাহিনীর ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাগণ এবং অন্যান্য পদবির সদস্যবৃন্দ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। ফাইনাল ম্যাচে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী দল ট্রাইব্রেকারে ৪-৩ গোলে বিজয়ী হয়ে আন্তঃবাহিনী ফুটবল প্রতিযোগিতায় চ্যাম্পিয়ন হওয়ার গৌরব অর্জন করে। রানার্সআপ হওয়ার গৌরব অর্জন করে বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী দল। বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী দলের গোল রক্ষক এম শহিদুল আলম, পিও(মিউজ) প্রতিযোগিতায় অনবদ্য নৈপুণ্য প্রদর্শনের জন্য সেরা খেলোয়াড় বিবেচিত হন। উল্লেখ্য, গত ০১ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ তারিখে মেজর জেনারেল এ কে এম রেজাউল মজিদ, বিএসপি, এনডিসি, এএফডবিøউসি, পিএসসি, চিফ কনসালটেন্ট জেনারেল, বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী, প্রতিযোগিতার শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন। ০১ হতে ০৫ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ পর্যন্তঅনুষ্ঠিত আন্তঃবাহিনী ফুটবল প্রতিযোগিতায় বাংলাদেশ সেনাবাহিনী, বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী ও বাংলাদেশ বিমান বাহিনী দল অংশগ্রহণ করে।

    মাদক ও সন্ত্রাস নির্মূলে ভোলা ও খুলনায় নৌবাহিনীর যৌথ অভিযান ঢাকা, ১৬ নভেম্বর ২০২৪:- গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে আজ শনিবার (১৬-১১-২০২৪) ভোলা জেলার শশীভূশন থানাধীন এওয়াজপুর নামক স্থানে যৌথ অভিযান পরিচালনা করে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনী। উক্ত অভিযানে শশীভূশন থানার চিহ্নিত মাদক ব্যবসায়ী মোঃ লিটন মাঝি এবং তার সহযোগী মোঃ সিদ্দিক মোল্লাকে আটক করা হয়। পরবর্তীতে তাদের দেয়া তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে বিভিন্ন জায়গায় তল­াশি চালিয়ে ১৫৯৫ পিস ইয়াবা, ০১ কেজি গাঁজা, ০২ টি মোবাইল সেট, মাদক পরিবহন কাজে ব্যবহৃত ০১ টি মোটর সাইকেল এবং নগদ ৪৫ হাজার একশত টাকা জব্দ করা হয়। আটককৃত ব্যক্তিদ্বয়ের বিরুদ্ধে শশীভূশন থানায় ইতিপূর্বে একাধিক মাদক মামলা রয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। একই দিন খুলনা জেলার তেরখাদা উপজেলার ৫০ শয্যা হাসপাতাল এর সামনে অপর আরেকটি অভিযানে চিহ্নিত মাদক ব্যবসায়ী মোঃ মাসুম বিল্লাকে মাদক বিক্রি করা অবস্থায় আটক করা হয়। আটককৃত ব্যক্তি গত ০৬ নভেম্বর ২০২৪ হতে অদ্যাবধি জ্বর জনিত কারণে বর্ণিত হাসপাতালে ভর্তি থাকা অবস্থায় মাদক বিক্রি করেছে বলে জানা যায়। এ সময় তার কাছ থেকে ৩৬ পিস ইয়াবা, ১টি মোবাইল সেট, নগদ ৩,৭৭০/০০ টাকা এবং মাদক সেবন এর বিভিন্ন সরঞ্জামাদি জব্দ করা হয়। উভয় অভিযানে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর সাথে পুলিশ সদস্যরাও অংশগ্রহণ করে। অভিযান শেষে প্রয়োজনীয় আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের জন্য জব্দকৃত মালামালসহ আটককৃত ব্যক্তিদের যথাক্রমে শশীভূশন ও তেরখাদা থানায় হস্তান্তর করা হয়। উল্লেখ্য, বর্তমান সরকারের নির্দেশনা বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে ʻইন এইড টু সিভিল পাওয়ার’ এর আওতায় দায়িত্বপূর্ণ এলাকাসমূহে বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর নিয়মিত টহল অভিযান চলমান রয়েছে ।
