At present two ships are dedicatedly detailed for the the practical sea training for the BN trainees:

BNS SOMUDRA JOY

BNS SOMUDRA JOY is the largest training ship of Bangladesh Navy and has the community of officers and sailors with spontaneous dedication, honesty, dignity and professionalism. To be a proud member of this ship, it is a requirement to be professional, smart and disciplined. As a matter of fact BNS SOMUDRA JOY is the first ever platform which was brought from USA. Being the first ever US platform, this ship is quite different and new systems and techniques are incorporated in this ship. The Ship was dedicated as Training Ship on 24 Mar 2016. Basically it renders a wide range of training to cadets, midshipman and sub Lieutenants that includes Basic orientation training, practical ship handling and watch keeping training etc.

 

BNS CHITRA

BNS Chitra was commissioned on 03 Oct 2004 in Bangladesh Navy. The ship is normally tasked with coastal patrol and constabulary duties. Recently it is detailed as dedicated training ship for under trainee officers for practical ship handling. It also conducts regular sortie near outer anchorage and demonstrate various exercises in real time scenario for the under trainee officers.
